About the Instructor: He is a flamenco dancer, choreographer, and philosopher from Madrid. He has a PhD in Aesthetics, Sciences and Technologies of the Arts (Speciality in Dance and Arts of the Gestures) in Paris VIII University (France); a Degree in Philosophy in Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain); a degree in Contemporary Dance in Paris VIII University (France); a degree in Flamenco Dance in APDE-Cátedra de Flamencología de Jerez (Spain) and a degree in Creative Writing and Imagination Techniques in Escuela Contemporánea de Humanidades (Spain).
He has also studied a Master in “Philosophy and contemporary Critics of the Culture” and other one in “Dance research”, both in Paris VIII University, where he has also been a teacher between 2017 and 2019.
He has won the 1st Dance Research Award of the Academia de las Artes Escénicas de España. He has been also awarded with the Best Dancer Award in the 19th Muestra de Danza El Álamo and the DanceWeb Scholarship in Impulstanz Festival of Vienna.
He has his own dance company since 2009 and he has presented few performances as Bailar las palabras (2013), H2OHNO (2014), Bailar en hombre (2015), Intimo Interior Meo (2016), DeCid (2016), Too easy to see (2018), Pensaor (2018) and, in partnership with Belén Maya, ¿Y después? (2020). In 2020 he created also “No hay bailarines en este país”, in 2021 “No más versiones: El Amor Brujo” and “El Movimiento”:
He has also collaborated with some of the most important contemporary flamenco dancers as choreographic advisor and dramaturg as Juan Carlos Lérida, Olga Pericet and José Manuel Álvarez.
He is author of few papers, chapters of books (see the complete bibliography here: www.lrparrafernando.com and two books: “Espejismos de la identidad coreográfica: estética y transformaciones de la farruca”, “De puertas para adentro: disidencia sexual y disconformidad de género en la tradición flamenca” (Egales, 2017) and “Historia queer del flamenco” (Egales, 2020).
Since 2020 he is a Member of the Performing Arts Academy of Spain.
Nowadays he is teaching as ATER in the Dance Department of Lille 3 University (France).
