Call for Symposia proposals

The Organizing Committee encourages the submission of proposals for Symposia from a wide range of disciplines, from STEM to Social Sciences, that address gender from an interdisciplinary perspective. The goal of the call for Symposia proposals is to provide a forum for focused discussions of both new and emerging topics or innovative applications of established approaches.

List of research themes the program of the conference aims to cover:

Inequality in Science and Academia – mapping critical problems we need to deal with: e.g. career track, hierarchies, gaps, harassment, precariousness, temporary leaves and dropouts, work-life balance, mental health;
Reflections on the masculinist construction of Science and knowledge;
Languages of Science – concepts and wording, dialogues, communication, and outreach;
Strategies and approaches for an emancipated and emancipatory Science: a Science for all.

Topics not listed but within the scope of the BRIDGES 2022 (Gender and Science) conference are also welcome.

Important Dates

EXTENDED TO JANUARY 31ST! – Deadline submission of Symposium proposals.
February 15th, 2022 – Communication of decision on Symposium proposals.
March 1st, 2022 – Call for abstracts for oral and poster presentations.
April 15th, 2022 – Deadline submission of abstracts for oral and poster presentations.
September 12th-16th – BRIDGES conference.

Guidelines for Symposia proposals

How to submit your Symposium proposal

Proposing a Symposium can only be done via online submission on the form available below.
The deadline for submission of the Symposia proposals is
EXTENDED TO JANUARY 31ST!, 2022, 23:59 (Madrid time zone).

Important notice for authors: Each registered participant may submit only one abstract as first author, either a stand-alone abstract or an abstract within a symposium.

Symposia format

Symposia are led by a chair and optional co-chair, both registered participants (online or onsite).
Each Symposium should consist of up to 6 talks, plus a maximum number of 15 posters. The allocated presentation time, including Q&A, is 15 minutes for contributed papers (the total duration of each Symposium is 90 min)
Proposals are welcome to include a list of at least four participants that have shown interest in participating. The rest of the time slots will be open to all delegates for abstract submission.

Symposia revision

As the number of Symposia that we can accommodate on the program is limited, the Scientific Committee will evaluate all Symposia proposals and decide whether they are accepted, rejected, or suggested for merger with another similar proposal.
Upon acceptance of the Symposium proposal, abstracts must be submitted before April 15th, 2022. The Guidelines for abstract submission will be disclosed closer to de call for abstracts for oral and poster presentations.
Submitted abstracts of oral and poster presentations are sent to the organizers of each accepted Symposium for revision. Symposia chairs will be responsible for abstract revision and acceptance or rejection.
In the event of a Symposium proposal not being selected by the Scientific Committee, authors will get the opportunity to submit it as a regular oral or poster presentation within the scientific program.
